The Municipality of Kincardine is recommending stronger protections in Ontario’s proposed Data Centre Playbook, including greater municipal involvement, water and environmental protections, cost recovery, community benefits, transparency and emergency planning. The recommendations are intended to support responsible data centre development while ensuring host communities share in the long-term benefits.
The Municipality of Kincardine will remove the Geddes Park barn during the week of August 31, 2026, due to structural deficiencies. Temporary closures will affect the park parking lot and a section of the Red Trail. The area will be naturalized following demolition, with a heritage plaque anticipated in spring 2027.
