Protection of privacy is paramount and the Municipality of Kincardine is committed to protecting the privacy of those who visit its websites. This Privacy Statement summarizes the Municipality's practices with respect to the collection of personal information through its website. By visiting Kincardine.ca or KincardineWelcomes.ca, visitors are accepting the practices described in this statement.

The Municipality of Kincardine does not automatically gather your personal information. This includes information like your name, address, phone number, or e-mail address.
Personal information is collected, used, and disclosed in accordance with the provisions of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA). This information is only collected if you provide it to us voluntarily (i.e. completing an online form.)

Our websites at www.kincardine.ca and www.kincardinewelcomes.ca collect limited amounts of standard information for statistical and traffic monitoring purposes. This information does not identify a visitor personally and is only used to administer the site and identify usage trends to improve the website.
Our blogs store the domain name and IP address from which the Municipality's website was accessed, the type of browser and operating system used, the date and time the site was accessed, the pages visited, and the region of the world from which the site was accessed.

Use of Video Surveillance Cameras
The Municipality of Kincardine uses video surveillance cameras at several municipal facilities for safety and security purposes. Cameras have been designed to minimize privacy intrusion.
Procedures are in place through Policy GG.3.15 Security Video Surveillance regarding the use of the cameras as well as the use and retention of the recorded information. In accordance with the Policy, signage is posted to advise the public where video surveillance cameras are in use on municipal properties.
The personal information collected by video surveillance cameras is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act, 2001. This information is used for the purpose of promoting public safety and reduction of crime at the sites.
Social Media Guidelines
The Municipality reserves the right to, without notice, remove any posts or content on our social media accounts that does not meet the guidelines noted below, or to shut off commenting for posts which the Municipality believes, at its sole discretion, may generate comments which do not meet the guidelines below.
Hateful commentary takes a mental toll on our audience and on our staff, who are responsible for keeping the conversation healthy for others. Please - be respectful.
Posts that are not acceptable:
- Provides the personal information of individual;
- Promotes, perpetuates or fosters discrimination based on race, creed, colour, age, religion, gender, marital status, nationality, physical or mental disability or sexual orientation;
- Is profane or abusive;
- Is sexually explicit or link to content that is sexually explicit;
- Conducts or encourages illegal activity;
- Is non-Corporation of the Municipality of Kincardine related business advertising and or promotions;
- Is for the purpose of promoting a candidate for municipal, provincial or federal election;
- Personal attacks on individuals or specific groups;
- Any content that is believed to be inappropriate in the opinion of the Municipality of Kincardine.
