Tourism Strategy

Project Overview

The Municipality of Kincardine is developing a Tourism Strategy to guide how we grow and manage tourism in a way that supports residents, strengthens local businesses, and enhances the visitor experience.

Why this project matters

Tourism is one of the three main economic pillars in The Municipality of Kincardine and an important part of our community identity.

Visitors in the Municipality support a wide range of businesses that might otherwise struggle to operate. Using Statistics Canada’s industry definitions of tourism from Lightcast Analyst, over 16.5 million in wages, over 85 million in sales and over 800 jobs are supported by businesses with the Municipality of Kincardine’s tourism sector. Specifically:

  • 14.5 million in direct wages
  • 74.3 million in direct sales
  • 2.1 million in additional indirect wages
  • 10.8 million in additional indirect sales.

As we plan for the future, it is essential to hear from a variety of audiences, including residents, businesses, special event organizers, and visitors.

We’re planning for the future of tourism in our community, and we want to hear from you.

This work will help us better understand opportunities to:
  • Expand shoulder season tourism opportunities
  • Support sustainable tourism practices
  • Ensure tourism continues to grow in a way that reflects our community values
Your input will help shape priorities for:
  • Tourism investment
  • Partnerships
  • Experiences across the municipality

Whether you live here year-round, run a business, or visit often, your perspective will help us understand what’s working well and where we can improve.

Together, we can build a strong and sustainable tourism future for The Municipality of Kincardine that supports our economy, protects our assets, and fosters community pride.

Timeline

Engagement will include surveys, interviews, and community-based input opportunities. These opportunities will take place in the spring, summer and early fall of 2026.

Tourism Strategy Survey

Help Shape the Future of Tourism in the Municipality of Kincardine

The Municipality is developing a new Tourism Strategy to guide sustainable tourism growth, strengthen local businesses, enhance visitor experiences, and expand opportunities throughout the year.

We want to hear from businesses, residents, and visitors about:

  • What’s working well
  • Opportunities for improvement
  • Ideas for future tourism experiences and partnerships

Your feedback will help shape priorities for tourism investment and promotion across the municipality.

As a resident, you experience our community every day. You know what makes it special, where it thrives, and where there may be pressures or opportunities for improvement. As we develop a Tourism Strategy, we want to ensure tourism continues to enhance our quality of life, reflect our shared values, and contributes positively to support a strong and vibrant community.

We’re inviting you to share your perspectives on what’s working, what could be improved, and what you’d like to see in the future. Your feedback will help guide priorities, investments, and how tourism evolves in a way that builds local pride and community support.

Complete the Tourism Strategy Resident Survey for a chance to win local prizes and receive a complimentary admission to either the Kincardine Lighthouse or the Walker House Museum, all while helping shape the future of tourism in the Municipality.

Each week, one resident and one visitor will each win $50 in BIA Dollars to spend at participating local businesses.

At the end of the survey, one lucky participant will also win a Kincardine getaway package, including a weekend hotel stay during the shoulder season and $200 in BIA Dollars to enjoy local shopping, dining, and attractions.
