Inverhuron Upper Park Beach Volleyball Court Project

Project Overview

The Municipality of Kincardine is partnering with the Inverhuron Non-Profit Association (INPA) to install a new beach volleyball court at Upper McIntyre Park in Inverhuron.

This community-led project is funded through an $8,500 sponsorship from Bruce Power and will provide a new recreational amenity for residents and visitors to enjoy. Once complete, the court will be open for public use as a passive recreational space.

Background

In early 2026, the Inverhuron Non-Profit Association approached the Municipality seeking support for enhancements to Upper McIntyre Park. Through sponsorship funding secured from Bruce Power, the INPA proposed the installation of a beach volleyball court to increase recreational opportunities within the park.

Municipal staff worked closely with the INPA to identify a suitable location and develop a plan that minimizes impacts on existing park amenities while creating a new space for community enjoyment.

Why This Project Matters

This project supports the Municipality's commitment to creating vibrant parks, green spaces, recreation facilities, and programs for residents and visitors of all ages and abilities.

Key benefits of the project include:

  • Creating a new recreational amenity for community use.
  • Supporting a volunteer group-led initiative that enhances a local park.
  • Providing additional opportunities for active outdoor recreation.
  • Improving existing park infrastructure through the relocation and refurbishment of the playground swings.
  • Leveraging sponsorship funding, with no direct impact on municipal taxation.

The project has been designed so that no trees will need to be removed.

Design

The beach volleyball court will be located in the southeast corner of Upper McIntyre Park. This location was selected to avoid conflicts with other park activities, maintain open green space, and support future park improvements.

As part of the project, the existing swing set will be relocated to provide the required safety clearances around the court. The swings will also be refurbished, including improvements to the play surface and border area.
