Council Highlights - August 26, 2026

The Municipality of Kincardine Council Meeting was held in Council Chambers at 1475 Concession 5, RR #5 Kincardine at 5:00 p.m.

Highlights from the meeting include:

Kincardine Municipal Airport – Expression of Interest

Council endorsed staff entering into discussions with the Kincardine Airport Interest Group (KAIG) to establish a formal volunteer partnership framework to assist with airport operations, promotion, and long-term sustainability and enhanced communication. Council also acknowledged the alternative future operating options available to the Municipality including: procuring a new Airport Service Provider (ASP) contract through a competitive process; or establishing a dedicated internal municipal staff position responsible for airport operations; or exploring airport divestiture options through sale, lease or transfer of ownership to eliminate annual operating deficits and future capital obligations associated with airport ownership.

E- Scooter Pilot Project Review

Staff provided a report on a path forward for e-scooter use and operation within the Municipality of Kincardine including possible next steps and considerations regarding enforcement, safety, areas for use, consultation, communications, benefits, and various municipal impacts. Council decided to maintain its current status outside of the Provincial e-scooter Pilot Project and continue to provide education on e-scooters. Visit www.kincardine.ca/e-scooters for impacts.

Provincial Data Centre Playbook

Council approved the submission to the Environmental Registry of Ontario in response to Notice 026-0853, prior to the September 12, 2026 deadline, advocating that the recommendations contained in this CAO-2026-10 Report, be included in the final Provincial Data Centre Playbook. They also recommended that the recommendations be forwarded to the County of Bruce for consideration.

The next Municipality of Kincardine Council Meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. This meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Administration Centre, 1475 Concession 5, RR #5 Kincardine.
