Building Permits

A building permit is required for the construction, addition, renovation, and demolition of any building or structure as per the Ontario Building Code Act.

For electrical permits please contact the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA).

All fees are payable to The Municipality of Kincardine, upon issuance of the building permit.

The Municipality of Kincardine is pleased to offer residents, builders, and the business community an online application system to apply for and track your building permits.

The online building permit system allows you to apply for and to see the status of your application anywhere, at any time. You can start an application and finish it later, and receive email updates on the status of your permit application. You can even request building inspections!

Building Code Updates

The role of the Building Department is to review, issue, and inspect building permits. We ensure that structures are safe, accessible, and comply with the Ontario Building Code. Through the Code, we ensure that the minimum standard of health, life, and fire safety are maintained. We also confirm that projects comply with minimum setbacks and permitted uses of our Zoning By-law.

Before you begin construction, check to see if you require a building permit. When you have a permit check to see what inspections are required.
