Media Release - September 28, 2026 - Municipality of Kincardine receives 2025 Financial Information Return Recognition Award

KINCARDINE, ON – The Municipality of Kincardine has been recognized as a recipient of the 2025 Financial Information Return (FIR) Recognition Award from the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

The award recognizes municipalities that demonstrate leadership and diligence in submitting timely, reliable and accurate financial information through the annual Financial Information Return process.

The FIR collects important financial and statistical information from municipalities across Ontario. This information supports the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing in maintaining current municipal data and helps inform government decision-making.

“Accurate and timely financial reporting is an important part of effective municipal administration and accountability,” said Alan Smith, Chief Administrative Officer for the Municipality of Kincardine. “This recognition speaks to the professionalism and diligence of our Finance team and their commitment to maintaining the quality and integrity of the Municipality’s financial information. I’m pleased to see their work recognized through this award.”

This is the second time the Municipality of Kincardine has received the FIR Recognition Award, having also been recognized for its 2023 Financial Information Return.

The Municipality of Kincardine is listed among the 2025 FIR Recognition Award recipients on the Ministry’s FIR website.
