Media Release - September 15, 2026 - Nominations Close September 20 for 2026 Afro Caribbean Youth Awards

KINCARDINE, ON – There is still time to nominate an Afro Caribbean youth for the 2026 Afro Caribbean Youth Awards, but nominations close this Sunday, September 20.

The fourth annual Afro Caribbean Youth Awards celebrate Afro Caribbean youth living in Grey and Bruce Counties who demonstrate creativity, leadership, cultural dignity, academic merit, community involvement, advocacy for social justice, a commitment to diversity and inclusion, and the ability to inspire and empower others, as well as those who contribute through music, art, drama or dance or champion change and opportunity for all.

Nominate a Youth for Recognition

Community members are encouraged to nominate a youth who deserves recognition for their achievements, contributions and positive impact. Nominations can be submitted online through the at www.kincardine.ca/ACYA-2026/. Paper nomination forms are also available by request.

Awards Ceremony Set for October 24

The community is also invited to attend the 2026 Afro Caribbean Youth Awards ceremony on Saturday, October 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Davidson Centre. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

This year's ceremony will feature guest speakers from The Why Not Agency, a service-based marketing agency that emphasizes diverse storytelling and equity in Canada.
