Dr. Maimoona Altaf to Join Kincardine Clinic This Summer
KINCARDINE, ON – The Municipality of Kincardine is pleased to announce that Dr. Maimoona Altaf has signed a physician recruitment agreement and will be joining the local medical community, taking over the practice of Dr. Gary Gurbin following his retirement on July 1, 2026.
Dr. Altaf will assume care of patients at the clinic, supporting a smooth transition and continuity of care for the many individuals and families who have been under Dr. Gurbin’s care for decades.
Dr. Altaf completed her Bachelor of Science at Trent University, followed by medical school and residency at the University of Toronto. She has already spent nearly two years working in the Kincardine community, where she has built strong connections with patients and colleagues.
“After already spending time working in this community, I am grateful for the opportunity to join the clinic and continue supporting patients’ needs,” said Dr. Altaf. “The welcoming community and surrounding nature make it a wonderful place to live and work.”
“Access to healthcare remains one of the most important priorities for our community,” said Mayor Kenneth Craig. “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Altaf and thankful for her commitment to continuing patient care in the Municipality of Kincardine. This announcement reflects the collaborative efforts of many partners working together to support physician recruitment and long-term healthcare services in our municipality.”
In a message to patients, Dr. Altaf shared her commitment to continuing the high standard of care established by Dr. Gurbin and ensuring a smooth transition during this change.
The Municipality extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Gurbin for his nearly 60 years of dedicated service and is grateful to Dr. Altaf for continuing his legacy of care in the community.
The Municipality also extends its appreciation to Bruce Power and the Society of United Professionals for their ongoing support of local physician recruitment efforts, helping to strengthen access to healthcare services for residents.
Mayor Craig also recognized the continued commitment of Council and the efforts of the Health Care Access Committee, whose mandate was to support the recruitment of new physicians and address the critical need for local healthcare services.
The addition of Dr. Altaf reflects continued progress in maintaining and enhancing access to primary care, ensuring residents can continue to receive the care they need close to home.
