Alan Smith begins as CAO of the Municipality on July 20, 2026

KINCARDINE, ON –  The Municipality of Kincardine is pleased to welcome Alan Smith as its new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), beginning Monday, July 20, 2026.

Mr. Smith brings more than 20 years of municipal leadership experience across Ontario and British Columbia. Most recently, he served as CAO for the Town of Kirkland Lake, where he provided leadership to municipal operations, supported Council’s strategic priorities, and guided the organization through complex operational and infrastructure initiatives.

Throughout his career, Mr. Smith has held senior leadership roles with municipalities including the Town of Kirkland Lake, the Village of Masset, and the County of Elgin, and has also supported economic development initiatives with the City of Guelph. He is recognized as a collaborative, values-driven leader with experience in strategic planning, community engagement, and building strong relationships with staff, Council, and community partners.

“We are excited to welcome Alan to the Municipality of Kincardine and look forward to the experience and leadership he brings to our organization,” said Mayor Kenneth Craig. “His commitment to effective municipal service delivery and collaborative leadership will support our continued work to serve residents and advance Council’s priorities.”

The Municipality also extends its sincere appreciation to Interim CAO Kimberley Wingrove for her leadership and dedication over the past several months. Ms. Wingrove stepped into the interim CAO role following the departure of the previous CAO in November 2025 and provided steady guidance, support, and continuity for the organization during the recruitment process.

“We are grateful for Kimberley’s commitment and the leadership she provided during this important transition period,” said Mayor Craig. “Her support ensured the Municipality continued to move forward while we worked to find the right leader for the Municipality of Kincardine’s future.”

Mr. Smith looks forward to connecting with staff, Council, residents, and community partners as he begins his role with the Municipality of Kincardine.
