Thinking About Running for Municipal Council? Workshop to Support Prospective Municipal Election Candidates
KINCARDINE, ON - Bruce County residents are invited to attend a Candidate Information Night for those considering running for Municipal Council in the 2026 municipal and school board election, to be held on October 26, 2026.
Before making a decision to run for office, this practical workshop is designed to provide participants with a clear and realistic understanding of what serving as an elected official involves.
The session will explain:
- How municipal government works
- The roles and responsibilities of Council members
- The ethical and legal obligations of public office
Participants will also learn about campaign requirements, time and financial commitments, and the realities of public life.
The workshop is intended to equip individuals with essential background information and reflection tools to help determine whether municipal public service is the right fit for them, and to prepare those who choose to run to do so confidently and responsibly.
This workshop is being delivered in partnership with the County of Bruce, Municipality of Kincardine, Municipality of Arran-Elderslie, Municipality of Brockton, Township of Huron-Kinloss, Municipality of South Bruce, Town of South Bruce Peninsula, Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula and Town of Saugeen Shores.
