Municipality of Kincardine Council Appoints Deputy Mayor

KINCARDINE, ON - The Municipality of Kincardine Council has appointed Councillor Mike Hinchberger as Deputy Mayor, in keeping with requirements under the Municipal Act, 2001.

The Deputy Mayor position was declared vacant on April 22, 2026, following the resignation of Andrea Clarke. Council filled the vacancy by appointing a current member of Council per the Council Vacancy Policy to ensure continuity in leadership and representation.

Councillor Hinchberger will serve as Deputy Mayor for the remainder of the current term of Council, ending November 14, 2026.

Following this appointment, Council has declared the Councillor seat previously held by Councillor Hinchberger vacant. In accordance with legislative requirements, Council will fill this vacancy by appointment within the prescribed timeline. Further details on this process will be shared in the coming weeks.

Under provincial legislation, a by-election is not permitted for this vacancy, as it occurred after March 31 in a municipal election year.
