Highlights from the meeting include:
Kincardine Library 2nd Floor Flooring Report
Council approved the added request from the Kincardine Library located at 727 Queen Street, for the replacement of flooring on the second floor and amended the 2026 Operating Budget to include $30,000 from the Contingency Reserve. The full project includes installation of new shelving, painting and the removal of glass partition walls. As the current flooring is from the 1990’s and nearing end of life, new flooring is needed as part of the project so that the shelves and materials do not need to be moved twice.
Lighthouse Staircase Replacement Project Report
Council directed staff to have the current lighthouse staircase construction drawings changed from steel to a wooden design and requested the Mayor consider including $50,000 for the construction of a wooden staircase in the 2027 Capital Budget. Replacement of the wooden staircase adjacent to the Kincardine Lighthouse was proposed as part of the 2026 budget with a cost of $210,000 however, this was not approved and staff were directed to report on a cost to rehabilitate the existing staircase.
Inverhuron Upper Park Beach Volleyball Court Project Report
Council amended the 2026 Capital Budget to add the Inverhuron Upper Park Volleyball Project in the amount of $8,500, funded by a sponsorship from Bruce Power. In April 2026, staff were approached by the Inverhuron Non-profit Association (INPA) seeking support for the installation of a beach volleyball court at Upper McIntyre Park in Inverhuron. The INPA was successful in obtaining sponsorship funding for enhancements at the park
