Notice of Public Meeting Regarding Development Charges - Gary Street
Notice of Public Meeting Regarding Development Charges
Take notice that on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, the Council of the Municipality of Kincardine will hold a public meeting pursuant to The Development Charges Act, 1997, regarding proposed area-specific development charge rates and policies for the Gary Street (formally the Ontario Peninsula Farm) lands. It is proposed that enactment of an area-specific development charges by-law by Council would occur on a date subsequent to the public meeting.
Development charges are levied against new development, and are a primary source of funding for growth-related capital expenditures. The 2025 Area-Specific Development Charges Background Study for the Gary Street Lands relates to the provision of area-specific services within the area (e.g. Services Related to a Highway: Roads & Related, Storm Water, Sanitary Sewer and Watermains).
Council is required under The Development Charges Act, 1997, to hold at least one public meeting to allow the public the opportunity to review and provide comments on the 2025 Area-Specific Development Charges Background Study, related staff reports and the proposed development charges by-law.
All interested parties are invited to attend the public meeting:
Date: Wednesday, June 11, 2025
Time: 5:00 PM
Location: Council Chambers, 1475 Concession 5, R.R. #5, Kincardine, ON N2Z 2X6
Any person may attend the public meeting and make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the by-law. Written submissions are invited and should be directed to Jennifer Lawrie, Manager of Legislative Services/Clerk no later than 4:30 PM on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Written comments received prior to the meeting and submissions made at the public meeting will be considered by Council prior to the enactment of a new development charges by-law.
A copy of the 2025 Area-Specific Development Charges Background Study was made available on the Municipality’s website on Friday, May 9, 2025. A copy of the development charges by-law will be made available on Municipality’s website on or before Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
