Media Release - December 5, 2025 - W.E. Thompson School Agreement

KINCARDINE, ON - Bruce Power and the Municipality of Kincardine are pleased to announce that they've reached an agreement that will see the W.E. Thompson school continue to be used as a training centre by Bruce Power through 2032. This decision was made during the most recent lease arrangement discussions and following a thorough review of the building’s condition, and future needs.

“We appreciate the history of the W.E. Thompson site and the partnership with Bruce Power to use this space to help support the nuclear sector,” said Kenneth Craig, Mayor of Kincardine. “This decision allows us to look at a long-term opportunity for our community for this important property.”

“Bruce Power remains committed to supporting the Municipality of Kincardine and the region,” said Jennifer Edey, SVP of Operations Services and Digital Technology, at Bruce Power. “The timing of this coincides with the completion of the Major Component Replacement project, and with our other investments in local training facilities we will manage our training needs through existing facilities within the community.”

There are no immediate changes planned for the site. The current lease runs until the end of 2032, giving the Municipality a multi-year runway to shape a community-driven vision for this prime downtown location. Bruce Power will continue to work closely with the Municipality to ensure a smooth and well-planned transition.
