Mayor Craig Releases Proposed 2026 Municipal Budget for Public Review
KINCARDINE, ON - The Municipality of Kincardine has released Mayor Kenneth Craig’s proposed 2026 Municipal Budget, now available on the Municipality’s website for Council and public review.
As of May 1, 2025, the Province of Ontario expanded Strong Mayor powers to several municipalities, including the Municipality of Kincardine. Under this framework, the Mayor is responsible for preparing and proposing the municipal budget, while Council retains the authority to amend it. More information about Strong Mayor powers is available on our website.
In introducing the 2026 draft budget, Mayor Craig emphasized responsible financial management, sustainable growth, and supporting the long-term vibrancy of the community, and concern for the environment.
The proposed budget includes a 3% tax rate increase dedicated to long-term asset management planning and achieves a total proposed tax levy increase of 6.39%, well below the Mayor’s initial target of 7.5%.
“This budget reflects our commitment to prudent management of public funds while continuing to invest in the services and infrastructure that make Kincardine a strong and welcoming community,” said Mayor Craig. “We have worked hard to keep property tax increases as low as possible without compromising the high standard of service our residents expect.”
It is anticipated that Council will consider the budget at a Special Meeting of Council on December 10, 2025, at 5:00 p.m., where Council may propose amendments in accordance with the Strong Mayor budget process.
Residents are encouraged to review the 2026 Proposed Municipal Budget on the Municipality’s website and stay engaged in the budget process. Mayor's Budget | Municipality of Kincardine
