KINCARDINE, ON – Early in the winter of 2025, we made a call to our community to help us name the newest member of the Davidson Centre’s fleet. With a new electric zamboni taking the ice, of course it would need a name!

A contest opened allowing people to submit their names as well as provide vibrant designs on a colouring page, which decorated the Davidson Centre over the winter. We received 384 entries with fifteen shortlisted as finalists whose name suggestions included:

• The Ice Monster
• Snow Cone Maker
• Smooth Operator
• Slick Rick
• Skate Supreme
• Nice Ice Baby
• Kinuck Kruiser
• Ice Sweeper
• Ice Ice Davey
• Frozen Tornado
• Fludd
• Clean Machine
• Chillzilla

These were all fantastic entries, so random drawing chose Karen Powell’s Chillzilla name as winner. The zamboni now features a licence plate decal declaring its new name with Chillzilla sure to be a part of many great rink-related games and events in the coming years.
