Celebrating Pride Month in the Municipality of Kincardine
KINCARDINE, ON – June is the month we recognize and celebrate the growth, resilience, and creativity, of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. It is a time when we stand up against hate and affirm our commitment to justice for all.
Showing support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community there was a raising of the Progress Pride flag on June 13th, 2025 at the Kincardine branch of the Bruce County Public Library, at the Davidson Centre, and at the Kincardine Fire and Emergency Services Station 11 in Tiverton.
“This marks our ninth year of collaboration with the Municipality of Kincardine, and we’re grateful for their continued support,” said Sandy Blackwood, President of Kincardine Pride. “Pride is about embracing who you are, celebrating love in all its forms, and recognizing the strength that comes from diversity and inclusion. Everyone is welcome—because together, we are stronger.”
On June 21st, 2025, the Municipality is joining Kincardine Pride’s annual Pride Parade and following Celebration in Victoria Park. Come join the celebration and show support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community! The parade begins on Gary Street, flows down Sutton Street to Broadway Street, then turns left onto Queen Street, coming to an end on Durham Market North. Celebrations will then continue in Victoria Park where there will be vendors, entertainment, and family activities from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
On June 26th, 2025, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. the Municipality will be hosting a Rainbow Registered information session for businesses, organizations, and service groups interested in exploring this accreditation program. Register online or by calling 519-396-3468.
The Municipality is also hosting an online workshop facilitated by Rainbow Diversity Institute on July 8th, 2025, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. This training shares the realities of sexual and gender diverse people, and educates participants on 2SLGBTQ+ communities and. “My hope for the future is to fully, and without prejudice, enjoy the character and personality of every person, creating a stronger, safer, and more welcoming community. On behalf of Council and staff of the Municipality of Kincardine, I would like to wish everyone a season of being proud of who you are,” commented Mayor Kenneth Craig.
