Media Release - July 22, 2025 - The Municipality of Kincardine launches the Predevelopment Study and Design Program

KINCARDINE, ON – The Municipality of Kincardine announces the launch of the Predevelopment Study and Design Program, a strategic component of the Community Improvement Plan (CIP). This program offers matching grants to support costs related to necessary studies, plans, and designs aimed at advancing development and redevelopment projects.

Program Overview

  • Objective: To reduce upfront financial barriers for projects, particularly those in smaller or complex sites by covering costs for plans, drawings, or designs.
  • Eligible Areas: Projects must fall within the Community Improvement Project Area (CIPA), with priority given to Downtown Kincardine and Downtown Tiverton, especially for mixed-use commercial-residential developments.
  • Financial Details: Matching grants cover up to 50% of eligible costs, capped at $40,000, distributed in two phases linked to project milestones.

Projects encompassing architectural, engineering, environmental assessments, and other relevant studies are eligible under this program, provided they support the CIP’s objectives and receive municipal approval.

The initiative aligns with the Municipality of Kincardine’s goals to continue to strengthen downtown cores, foster mixed-use development, expand attainable housing, and facilitate development through refined planning. The program materials and application process details are accessible on the CIP webpage.
