Earth Week

Join the Municipality of Kincardine in celebrating Earth Week with a variety of community-led environmental activities and events taking place across the municipality.

From shoreline clean-ups and tree planting to guided nature walks and hands-on activities, there are plenty of ways to get involved and make a positive impact.

Clean when you can!

Clean-up kits will be available to reserve from April 20 to 26 for individuals or groups planning their own clean-up activities. Kits include buckets, gloves, pickers, garbage bags, and a garbage drop-off map. To reserve a kit, call 519-396-3491 or email recreation@kincardine.ca. Kits can be picked up and dropped off at the Davidson Centre.

Planned Events during Earth Week 2026

Saugeen Habitat Collective Tree Planting
April 18, 2026 at 10 a.m.
Join the Saugeen Habitat Collective for a tree planting at Kin-Bruce Park. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a shovel, gloves, and sturdy footwear. Lunch will be provided!

Repair Café
April 18, 2026 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Have something that needs fixing? Visit the Kincardine Beach Pavilion where volunteer fixers will help repair household items and give them new life. This event is put on by the Kincardine Environmental Action Network (KEAN). For more information, contact kincardinerepaircafe@gmail.com.

Community Clean-Up – Station Beach
April 19, 2026 from 2 to 3 p.m.
Join KEAN for a shoreline clean-up at Station Beach. Buckets, grabbers, and gloves provided.

Earth Day Movie & Popcorn
April 22, 2026 from 6 to 7 p.m.
Head to the Davidson Centre (Huron Room) for a family-friendly Earth Day film – The Extraordinary Caterpillar. Popcorn included!

Earth Day Seedling Swap
April 22, 2026 at 7 p.m.
Bring your seedlings and swap with others at the Davidson Centre (Penetangore Room). To register contact kincardineean@gmail.com.

City Nature Challenge
April 24 to 27, 2026
Join this global biodiversity event by exploring the Municipality of Kincardine and documenting local wildlife using the iNaturalist app. Simply create an account, take photos or record sounds of wild plants and animals anywhere in the community, and upload your observations to contribute to a worldwide project. No experience is needed! Experts will help you identify what you find. Huron Bruce Nature will host guided walks on April 25 and 26 for those looking to learn more while they explore. See below for details on the walks.

Wildflower Walk – Guided by Huron Bruce Nature
April 25, 2026 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Join a guided walk at Stoney Island Conservation Area and explore local wildflowers and natural spaces. Meet in the parking lot. Participants should wear sturdy footwear and dress appropriately for weather conditions. Walking sticks are often a good idea. Please note, this is an opportunity to participate in the City Nature Challenge.

Birding Walk – Guided by Huron Bruce Nature
April 26, 2026 from 9 to 11 a.m.
Discover local bird species at the Kincardine Lagoons with a guided group walk. Meet near the parking area of the Bruce Ave. soccer fields/dog park. Dress appropriately and bring binoculars. This walk will last between 1-2 hours. Please note, this is an opportunity to participate in the City Nature Challenge.

Saugeen Habitat Collective Tree Planting (Off-Leash Dog Park)
April 27, 2026 at 10 a.m.
Another opportunity to support local tree planting efforts, this time at the off-leash dog park off Bruce Avenue. Volunteers encouraged to bring a shovel, gloves and sturdy footwear. Lunch provided!


Whether you join a planned event or organize your own clean-up, every effort helps keep our community healthy, vibrant, and connected to nature.
