Council Highlights - September 10, 2025

Highlights from the meeting include:

MAT and STRA Licensing Report

Previously, Council had directed staff to explore the implementation of Short-Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) Licensing and the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT). At the August 27, 2025 meeting, staff provided Report Strategic Initiatives 2025-13 with the background and options for Council to consider at the September 10th, 2025 meeting. Council directed staff to move forward and bring back the process, draft by-law and recommended options to administer STRA Licensing and the MAT.

Tiverton Water EA and Costs

This report was a follow up to report Environmental Services 2025-09 and provided a summary of the Expansion of the Tiverton Water Supply System Municipal Class Environmental Assessment to date. At the February 26, 2025, meeting, Council directed staff to carry out further public consultation. This was undertaken during a time period that would allow seasonal residents to provide feedback. Council directed staff to issue the Notice of Expansion of the Tiverton Water Supply System Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Environmental Study Report (ESR) for 30-day public review and to proceed with preferred solution (a new Booster Pumping Station and connection to the Kincardine Drinking Water System) to be located at 3194 Bruce Road 15 (Inverhuron Park)..

Canadian Tire Jumpstart Agreement

Council approved an agreement with the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Accessible and Inclusive Infrastructure Grant to receive $350,000 to purchase playground equipment at Macpherson Park.

Upcoming Meetings

The next Municipality of Kincardine Council Meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025. This meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Administration Centre, 1475 Concession 5, RR #5 Kincardine.
