Council Highlights - January 14, 2026

Highlights from the meeting include:

Corporate Resources for Election Purposes Policy Report

Council approved the Use of Corporate Resources for Election Purposes Policy. The Policy will replace Policy GG.1.1.5 and outlines the rules for using municipal corporate resources during election periods, to ensure compliance with the Municipal Elections Act, and uphold the integrity and fairness of the electoral process.

Request for Direction on STRA Licensing Report

At its November 12th 2025 meeting, Council directed staff to revise the proposed Short-Term Rental Accommodation Licensing By-law to include at least two tiers. After consulting and reviewing practices in 11 municipalities with tiered systems, staff sought further direction from Council on the goals and preferred approach for the program to ensure the updated by-law aligns with Council’s intended outcomes. Council will discuss further at a future meeting.

Primary Healthcare Ad-Hoc Committee Update Report

Council approved the recommendations as presented by the Primary Healthcare Ad-Hoc Committee in Report, including exploring an increase from Huron-Kinloss. The Municipality of Kincardine’s Physician Recruitment and Retention Program has been in place since 2021 and has made progress recruiting and retaining physicians for the community.

The next Municipality of Kincardine Council Meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. This meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Administration Centre, 1475 Concession 5, RR #5 Kincardine.
