Council Highlights - February 25, 2026

The Municipality of Kincardine Council Meeting was held in Council Chambers at 1475 Concession 5, RR #5 Kincardine at 5:00 p.m.

Highlights from the meeting include:

Smart Beach Memorandum of Understanding Report

Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding which outlines the collaboration between the Municipality of Kincardine, SwimSmart Technology LLC, and the University of Waterloo for the deployment of a third-party model as part of a university research project funded by MITACS; and approved an amendment to the 2026 Budget for the purchase of a solar powered FlashBoard for an estimated cost of $20,577.

Bridge Management Plan Report

Preliminary results from the GEI Consultants desktop review suggested there were several bridge structures that could be considered for possible retirements. Council requested the Mayor include a project in the 2027 budget to undertake a hydraulic analysis of structure 2128 to enable further review of alternatives for that site; supported the replacement of structures 2134 and 2136 at the end of their useful life with the installation of a culvert as an equitable solution; supported future rehabilitation of structure 2610 as need necessitates; and directed staff to engage BMROSS to further assess the severity of concerns at structure 2621 as an immediate action with engineering funded from the 2026 operating budget.

Short Term Accommodation By-law

Council considered the implementation of a 2-Tier Short Term Accommodation By-law, at the February 11, 2026 Council Meeting. The Short-Term Rental Accommodation Licensing By-law was forwarded to the February 25th Council Meeting for consideration, and was defeated by Council.

Upcoming Meetings

The next Municipality of Kincardine Council Meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. This meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Administration Centre, 1475 Concession 5, RR #5 Kincardine.
