Council Highlights - August 27, 2025

The Municipality of Kincardine Council Meeting was held in Council Chambers at 1475 Concession 5, RR #5 Kincardine at 5:00 p.m.

Highlights from the meeting include:

MAT and STRA Licensing Report

Council directed staff to investigate the implementation of a Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) and Short-Term Rental Accommodation Licensing (STRA) in the Municipality of Kincardine. The process to explore both the MAT and STRA Licensing included actions such as producing a MAT financial forecast, and consulting with various groups to understand the impacts, benefits and challenges of potential implementation. Council will consider the recommendation at the September 10, 2025 meeting.

Ice Allocation Policy Report

Council approved the Ice Allocation Policy for implementation of the 2025-2026 ice season. Staff previously relied on an existing Ice Pad User Guide that is a framework for ice allocation at both the Davidson Centre and Tiverton Sport Centre. The Ice Allocation Policy will formalize booking ice times to user groups through a permitting process.

Serve Inform Engage: A Framework to Improve Service Satisfaction Report

Council directed staff to develop an external communications policy. While researching and developing this policy, it was identified that there is a need to focus on customer service and public engagement to achieve Council’s goals of improved communications. Council approved the Public Communications Policy and endorsed the "Serve, Inform, and Engage" Framework which includes a summary of actions and standards for service, communications and public engagement.

The next Municipality of Kincardine Council Meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10th, 2025. This meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Administration Centre, 1475 Concession 5, RR #5 Kincardine.
