Council Highlights - August 13, 2025

The Municipality of Kincardine Council Meeting was held in Council Chambers at 1475 Concession 5, RR #5 Kincardine at 5:00 p.m.

Highlights from the meeting include:

BuildingIN Housing Barriers and Opportunities Report

Council received the BuildingIN Housing Report. Staff worked with BuildingIN through a Federal Grant opportunity to help municipalities investigate potential housing shortage solutions. BuildingIN reviewed the Municipality’s current planning policies, infrastructure capacity for water and sewer services, and mapping including size and location of lots within the boundaries of Kincardine’s Local Official Plan. Specifically lands that are provided with full municipal services. The goal of the review was to find areas within the Municipality with opportunity for infill development by utilizing existing municipal roads and services.

Parks By-law Report

Council reviewed the draft Parks By-law, that outlines the rules surrounding park use in the Municipality of Kincardine. The goal of a By-law is to support staff, users and neighbours of parks in ensuring Municipal Parks are attractive and safe environment for all users. A decision on the Parks By-law was deferred. A Parks By-law Committee will be created to review and provide recommendations to Council.

543 Bervie Sideroad Surplus Lands Analysis Report

Council passed amotion at the December 6, 2023 Special Council meeting, to investigate declaring the western portion of 543 Bervie Sideroad as surplus to the needs of the municipality and dispose of this property. Staff researched and worked with legal counsel to confirm its viability for disposal. After investigation, staff recommend that Council continue to maintain the playground and a portion of the parkland for continued community use and declare the western portion of 543 Bervie Sideroad surplus. Council declared the western portion of 543 Bervie Sideroad surplus to the needs of the Municipality and directed staff to proceed with the disposition of this land as per the Sale and Disposition of Land Policy, through a qualified realtor, with the provision that the buyer be responsible for the severance of the approved portion of land.

The next Municipality of Kincardine Council Meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27th, 2025. This meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Administration Centre, 1475 Concession 5, RR #5 Kincardine.
