Council Highlights - May 28th, 2025

The Municipality of Kincardine Council Meeting was held in Council Chambers at 1475 Concession 5, RR #5 Kincardine at 5:00 p.m.

Highlights from the meeting include:

Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT), Short Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) Report

Council directed staff to continue the exploration of the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) and Short-Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) licensing in the Municipality of Kincardine as outlined in the next steps identified in the Report.

Playground Equipment Installation Report

Council approved $70,000 in the 2025 Budget to upgrade one park in the Birchwood and Parkwood neighbourhoods. Based on neighbourhood feedback, Council approved two smaller parks at both Kin-Huron Park and Lake Huron Highlands. This requires additional funds of $30,000 for the project budget, to ensure that both playgrounds meet accessibility requirements.

Delegation of Powers Policy By-law

Council passed a By-law to authorize the Delegation of Authority Policy By-law. The purpose of the Policy is to set out the scope of the powers and duties by which Council delegates its legislative and administrative authority to Staff and establish principles and accountability to govern such delegations.

The next Municipality of Kincardine Council Meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025. This meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Administration Centre, 1475 Concession 5, RR #5 Kincardine.
