2021 Development Charges Background Study

Hemson Consulting Ltd. has been retained by the Municipality of Kincardine to complete a Development Charges Background Study. This Background Study provides the basis and background to update the Municipality‚Äôs Development Charges to accordingly reflect the servicing needs of new development in the Municipality. 

When development charges are applicable

For any residential or non-residential development if you are:

  • Constructing a new building (not replacement)
  • Building an addition or alteration to an existing building which increases the floor area or number of units
  • Changing the use of a property

Purpose of development charges

Development charges are collected by the Municipality to finance the construction of a new capital infrastructure, as a result of the growth stemming from land development in the Municipality of Kincardine.
