Current Job Opportunities

The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and general upkeep of municipal buildings and facilities, including offices, public restrooms, community centres, and other government-operated spaces. This role ensures a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff and the public.

Reporting To: Maintenance Coordinator

Locations: Municipal Administration Centre, Kincardine Library, Operations Shops, Water Treatment Facility, Cemetery Office, Davidson Centre, Tiverton Sports Centre

Responsibilities:
1.    Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, hallways, meeting rooms, and public areas
2.    Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors
3.    Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste in accordance with municipal guidelines
4.    Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors
5.    Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
6.    Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to the supervisor
7.    Lock and unlock buildings as required
8.    Follow all health and safety regulations and municipal cleaning protocols
9.    Assist with setup and cleanup for public events or meetings as needed
10.    Adhere to Municipality of Kincardine corporate policies and procedures
11.    Complete other duties as assigned by Management

Education & Experience Requirements:
•    Post-secondary education in a related field
•    2 years of experience in janitorial or custodial work
•    Possess a valid Ontario Drivers License

Required Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
•    Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, equipment and cleaning best practices
•    Ability to follow health and safety procedures
•    Ability to work independently and follow instructions
•    Punctual and dependable individual
•    Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with members of the public
•    Strong attention to detail
•    Work history that highlights teamwork and a positive attitude

Employment Information: 
•    Permanent, Full-Time 
•    35 Hours per Week
•    Work schedule may include day or evening shifts as required
•    Compensation - Group 2 (Step 1 $22.11/hr - Step 5 $27.63/hr)
•    Completion of a Police Check with an Acceptable Result is a condition of employment
