Current Job Opportunities

The Fitness Instructor will be responsible for preparing and delivering group fitness classes for members while creating a positive, fun, and motivating environment.

Reporting To: Recreation Supervisor

Responsibilities:
1.    Prepare and lead fitness classes to members in a group environment 
2.    Prepare lesson plans and ensure necessary equipment is available
3.    Motivate and encourage members by providing constructive feedback and positive comments
4.    Encourage and promote fitness class participation with existing members and members of the public
5.    Address complaints and incidents, including accidents, emergencies, and thefts
6.    Identify damaged fitness equipment and follow-up to ensure it is fixed
7.    Enforce all fitness class rules and maintain good public relations with clients
8.    Carry out health and safety checks on equipment and resolve issues as required
9.    Maintain records such as progress updates and attendance
10.    Adhere to Municipality of Kincardine corporate policies and procedures
11.    Complete other duties as assigned by Management

Education & Experience Requirements:
•    Post-secondary education in a related field
•    Possess a Certified Fitness Instructor Specialist, CanFitPro is considered an asset
•    Possess a Valid First Aid & CPR Certification
•    2 years of relevant experience in fitness industry

Required Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
•    Comprehensive understanding of fitness programs
•    Ability to cater exercise and fitness activities to a range of age groups and members of different physical abilities
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to connect with people
•    Strong problem-solving ability 
•    Ability to work independently with little supervision
•    Interest in fitness and nutrition as part of an overall healthy lifestyle

Employment Information:
•    Part-Time, Contract position
•    Group 4 (Step 1 $26.04/hr - Step 5 $32.55/hr)
•    Hours of work will vary - approx. 3 hours per week - morning, day or evening classes
•    Required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Background Check
