As the pandemic continues to force the cancellation of activities, and the days get progressively shorter (and darker), this winter we’re encouraging you ALL to #leavethelighton

We plan to illuminate this great municipality and we want you to be a part of the safe harbour we are proud to call home.
The holidays may feel a little different this year, but we want to ensure that they look better than they ever have.
Plenty of new light installations will be on display throughout the municipality from November through March and we hope you’ll join us by shining your bright light as well!

Be sure to see below for additional details including sponsorship opportunities and self guided tours.

This initiative is a partnership of the Municipality of Kincardine, Kincardine & District Chamber of Commerce & Lakeside Downtown Kincardine BIA.

 Sponsorship Opportunities

We have various tiers of sponsorship opportunities. Examples of each level listed below:

Donation of Funds

- General sponsorship of the Leave the Light On initiative
- Sponsorship of specific site (ie. public park, local business or other public facility)

Funds will be put towards the purchase and installation of light displays at public parks, downtown locations and other public facilities.

Donation of Time

Adopt-a-Home: Give of your time and efforts by helping a Long Term Care Facility decorate their exterior for residents and their families to enjoy.  Help a neighbour out that may not be able to decorate on their own.  Grab a few friends in your bubble and help spread cheer in our community.

Donation of Funds AND Time

Sponsorships will be put towards the purchase of lighting with commitment of volunteering your time to help install the fixtures at the appropriate locations.

To join the important ranks of sponsorship, please contact:

Sponsors will be recognized through:

Community Living Kincardine and District Skate With Santa
Queen's Lookout, Queen Street, Kincardine
CLKD and their friends at UBC Local 2222 installed the #skatewithsanta2020 photo board this past weekend at Queen's Lookout on main street in #lakesidedowntownkincardine.
#skatewithsanta2020 is a bit different this year, but thanks to local artist Jessica Cormier and UBC Local 2222, everyone can still get their photo taken skating with Santa!
Don't forget to tag their facebook page, UBC Local 2222's facebook page to share your photos for a chance to WIN some great local gift cards!

First Nations Display - The Dream Catcher
Davidson Centre, 601 Durham Street, Kincardine
The Ojibwe (Chippewa) believe that the night is full of both good and bad dreams. When a dream catcher is hung above the place where you sleep, it moves freely in the night air and catches the dreams as they drift by.  The good dreams, knowing their way, pass through the opening in the centre of the webbing while the bad dreams, not knowing the way, are caught in the webbing and destroyed at the first light of the morning sun.

There are many variants to the dream catcher legend, some which say both the good and bad dreams are captured and some which say the good dreams slide down the feather to those sleeping below. Although the Ojibwe are credited as the first people to use dream catchers, many other tribes and Native peoples have adopted dream catchers into their culture.  Even though the designs and legends of dream catchers differ slightly, the underlying meaning and symbolism is universal and is carried across cultures and language barriers.
Everybody Dreams!

Thank you to the Primeau and Wolfe Families for volunteering your time and talents to ensure this display was part of the initiative!

Kincardine & District Lions Club
Splash Pad, 601 Durham Street, Kincardine
Shout out to the Kincardine & District Lions Club for decking the halls at the Lions Splash Pad this year!
A regular participant in the Santa Claus parade, the Lions wanted to get involved and spread some festive spirit this year as part of the Leave The Light On initiative, and this light display sure checks all of the boxes!

St. Andrew's Park
Main Street, Tiverton
Spirit is alive and well in the Village of Tiverton. Be sure to add the spectacle that is St. Andrew's Park to your list of must-sees! It will be sad to miss the annual lighting of the park this year, but we will keep this park shining bright for all to enjoy all winter long.
Victoria Park
707 Queen Street, Kincardine
This favourite event hub is shining bright this season thanks in part to some of our event partners. Typically lit to kick off the season in the downtown, the park can still be enjoyed by all - including your furry friends...
Suggested Routes

With so much area to cover in the Municipality of Kincardine, we will be creating suggested routes for you and your family to check out!

Until we have those routes completed, please enjoy the magic of the holidays alongside a couple of very special North Pole recruits who took in the Leave the Light On splendour....
