Kincardine Queen Street Reconstruction Project in 2023
KINCARDINE, ON – On August 8, Municipality of Kincardine Council approved plans to proceed with tendering of the downtown Kincardine Queen Street reconstruction project. Planned for 2023, the project will replace the aging underground infrastructure in the downtown core.
Staff recommended $7 million project budget to finish the engineering design and issue a contracting tender. This will allow the successful contractor to begin in the early spring of 2023, pending the new Council’s awarding of the contract in the fall.
Adam Weishar, Director of Infrastructure and Development noted, “with supply industry impacts and volume of active work in the sector, a fall tender would best position the Municipality for undertaking and completing a project of this magnitude within the 2023 construction season”.
The project includes replacement of all water and sanitary services, installation of new storm water services, as well as new sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and paving.
Through outreach to the Accessibility Committee, BIA and Chamber of Commerce, other improvements are under consideration as part of the revitalization project. These include making the downtown more accessible, new LED streetlights, a speaker system, and more.
A public meeting in September will invite businesses, property owners, downtown residences, and the public to attend for more information on the Queen Street Reconstruction project.
Details on the open house will be released shortly. For more information and to subscribe to the project newsletter, please visit our webpage or send us an e-mail.
